Indiana County Head Start offers free pre-school services to income-eligible families with children and pregnant women. Services are provided in the areas of child development, parent involvement, social services, mental health, child disabilities and nutrition. Head Start provides meals and snacks free of charge through the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

To be eligible, family incomes must be at or below the federal poverty level and children must be three or four years old based on dates determined by the local school district for Indiana County Head Start, Inc. However, Head Start and Early Head Start may enroll some children from families whose incomes are higher than the federal poverty level if they meet other eligibility requirements. Families who receive SNAP, public assistance (TANF or SSI), and those with children in foster care or children who are homeless, also qualify regardless of income. Enrollment is not first come first serve. The families with the greatest needs receive services first, no matter the date of their application.

At Indiana County Head Start we work with the WHOLE FAMILY to help your child succeed in becoming the best he/she can be.  We know change doesn't happen over night and we celebrate the small victories right along with you, the parents. If you have concerns about your 3 or 4 year old child's behavior call us at 724-349-6200 and ask about registering your child. Let us help you give your child the HEAD START he/she needs to be ready and successful for school.

The online registration application below can be completed in preparation for an in-person interview for either Early Head Start, Head Start, or Pre-K Counts.
